You can speed up the process and reduce the number of withdrawals by the DBS checks you get by ensuring you check each candidate's name details and name history before submitting a check.
You need to ensure all operators who ID verify and submit disclosure checks are reviewing the candidate's name details correctly, including the current name details, and the Other Names section.
β
You need to ensure that:
Only legal names are provided, no nicknames.
The name on the BC shows the candidate's current name according to their ID documents, including any middle names.
If one document contains a middle name and another doesn't, the middle name must still be provided.
The other names section on the BC shows all previous names before the current name was used.
Names only:- Candidates do not need to include their previous titles in the other names section.
Both sections above combined cover all dates from birth until the present, with no gaps in the dates.
All First names in the current and other names section are correct.
All Middle names in the current and other names section are correct.
All Surnames in the current and other names section are correct.
All dates are correct.
No abbreviations or single initials, unless legally applicable.
No duplications.
All names are spelt correctly.
If the candidate does not have a middle name, this field should be left blank. Ensure None and NA have not been used in any names.
π Note: If a check is accepted by our provider and the DBS later queries the information provided, and the information provided is found to be incorrect, the DBS withdraws the check immediately.
If a candidate doesn't provide their middle names and they've provided ID documents containing their middle name, the DBS withdraws the check immediately. It's therefore vital that checks are verified and submitted correctly.
